Airwaves and Frequencies”; Jon Black; The October Sky; 2006

Jon Black is a very, very, very little-known musician.  He only has two albums currently out, with The October Sky being his first.  He is not famous in any sense of the word.  The only reason I even have heard of such a small-time singer is that I have met him in person, at a summer camp during the summer of 2007.  He was a presenter there, and led the meetings and talked at the youth groups.  He is a Christian country singer, with a completely amazing voice and a great back-up band.

“Airwaves and Frequencies” is a song about a man missing his significant other.  He laments not being by her side, but he says “There’s a radio that plays this song and / You’re on the other side”.  Black sings in an amazing voice, putting so much feeling in the song.  He has a cleanness and an ability that is unseen by many modern singers.

As I have said before, hearing a song live usually makes it sound so much better.  This song was one of his most popular songs to play while on the camp’s stage.  He loved to sing, and this was and is expressed in his voice.  The reason that I love this song so much is his voice, which is literally musical.  The upbeat feeling of the song, and its amazing lyrics, set this song, and its singer, as being one of my favorites.
